Our 'Lifetime Achievement' Award!

In November 2012 we attended an awards ceremony by LLoyds Bank/ Scottish Widows at the Langham Hotel, attended also by many of the UK's recent Olympic and Paralympic Medal winners.  Four awards were made on the night and we were honoured to be presented with the 'Lifetime Achievement' award.  As this came as a big surprise we had no speeches prepared!   A very enjoyable evening spent in the company of peers and Olympic stars, it was probably the closest we will get to the Oscars!

 Here is the background:

The 'Widows' Awards , were launched in 2006, and are an opportunity for the financial services community to recognise success and achievement. Every year four prominent, experienced and well-respected judges are chosen, each with a different perspective on the financial services industry, to decide the winners of the awards.  The winners of the awards are presented with an Oscar-sized bronze statue of the Scottish Widow.

The Lifetime Achievement Award  "Given to the financial adviser who has given the most to financial services over his or her life".

"Phil and her husband Mike set up Stafford & Co in 1986 and have taken their business from strength to strength. Providing comprehensive financial planning to a wide range of clients Mike and Phil are both Certified Financial Planners and their firm was the first in the UK to become an Accredited Financial Planning firm by the Institute of Financial Planning. Supportive of other advisers and firms, they are committed to professional development. Mike has served on the board of the Institute of Financial Planning and is also an award winning adviser. Phil has served on the board of the Financial Services National Training Organisation and the Financial Services Skills Council, and the Small Business Practitioner Panel of the Personal Investment Authority amongst others. Their joint commitment to their own business and clients, as well as their quiet, modest, unassuming and very low-profile approach to professionalism and developing the industry deserves a much wider recognition".
